Vi and Andrew celebrated their wedding day with a heartfelt Vietnamese tea ceremony at a family home in Savannah, GA, surrounded by generations of smiling friends and relatives. The house was absolutely stuffed to the gills with love, laughter, and the kind of warmth that can’t be staged—exactly the environment where documentary wedding photography thrives.
A Meaningful Tea Ceremony Rooted in Family Tradition
As part of the Vietnamese tea ceremony tradition, Andrew and his family arrived bearing gifts for Vi’s family, including an impressive whole pig feast. The gifting ceremony was emotional and reverent, filled with gratitude, respect, and visible connection between families. These moments—quiet, meaningful, and deeply cultural—are some of the most powerful to document as a Savannah documentary wedding photographer.
Downtown Savannah Wedding Photos on River Street
After the tea ceremony, we headed into downtown Savannah for wedding portraits that felt straight out of a romantic fairytale. Emmet Park and the ramps of River Street provided the perfect backdrop—historic textures, soft light, and that unmistakable Savannah charm.
Rather than overly posed portraits, the focus stayed on movement, connection, and ease, allowing Vi and Andrew’s relationship to naturally shine through in their Savannah wedding photos.
Honoring Korean Heritage with Hanbok Portraits
At the end of the day, Vi and Andrew switched things up, changing into traditional Korean hanboks in honor of Andrew’s heritage. We wandered through Warren Square, playing with popular Korean couples’ poses and letting the session feel lighthearted and fun. It was a beautiful way to honor multiple cultures while staying true to who they are as a couple.
